Castellammare del Golfo

According to the opinion of historians and geographers, Castellammare is the ancient Emporium of Segesta, the port of Segesta, the place where takes place the shipping business of Elymian’s city.
The Carthaginians made Emporium one of the largest fortified point during the fight with Selinunte. After the Punic Wars,  after the end of Carthaginian power, the area was exploited by the Romans, who made it impregnable with the construction of a fort. Arabs, whose rule began in the ninth century, destroyed Segesta and on the contrary they increased its port which was called Al Madarig "The Steps", and it supported trade with the settlement of a trap.

 

Tonnara di Scopello

It is located ten kilometers from Castellammare del Golfo to the west exactly and it is best known for the clarity of its sea and the picturesque Faraglioni of Scopello covered with Mediterranean vegetation. To characterize it there is the Natural Zingaro Reserve and the town village of Scopello, located just above, around a beam of 19th century on the ruins of an old Arab house. To make a background there is a fantastic coastline with the tip of Cala Bianca, the bay of Guidaloca and its white pebble beach and Cala Rossa, where it opens an underwater cave. The tuna Scopello is an ancient beam with its warehouses into disuse, become a sort of "museum of the sea", evidence of past eras and wealth. At the time the property allows you to dwell in the old manor house of the trap, with balconies overlooking the sea, unique for its beauty and its harmony.

 

Riserva dello Zingaro

Tour Riserva dello ZingaroIs the first natural reserve in Sicily, 7 km of coastline overlooking a clear blue sea, topped by a large stretch dolomitic limestone. It is walkable only on foot through a path carved into the mountain.
The reserve extends from Cala Mazzo di Sciacca at south, until the Tonnarella dell'Uzzo at north, and visitors can access it from both sides.
The reserve is interesting not only for its abundance of Mediterranean vegetation with beautiful coves and pristine beaches, but also for the presence of rare and endemic plants, with a remarkable variety of wildlife. In the Reserve are also important traces left by man, such as Grotta dell’Uzzo, Borgo Cusenza, La Torre dell'Impiso and Tonnarella dell'Uzzo. At the time the reserve is very well managed by the Regional State Forests of the Sicilian Region: the entrance south side of Scopello is about 12 kilometers from the center of Castellammare del Golfo, and can be visited all year round.

San Vito Lo Capo

Since 1998, the town hosts the "Cous Cous Fest", an international culture and gastronomy show of the Mediterranean. An international culinary competition of couscous that commits chef from different countries: Ivory Coast, France, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Palestine, Senegal and Tunisia, who are faced by proposing the couscous cooked according to their own culinary tradition.
